About US

Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Ann and I established BirchCroft Farm in 2019.

I first became interested in homesteading and farm life in 2013. Unfortunately, I was living in the suburbs and didn’t have much space to start farming, but I did what I could do. I began gardening and even kept a few chickens and rabbits.

I’ll never forget the feeling of harvesting my first cucumber. It was a major accomplishment! Here I had started with only a tiny seed, and I successfully made food happen! Once my chickens started laying and I had fresh eggs every day, I was completely hooked.

In 2016, I returned to my home state of Michigan and immediately made plans to buy a small farm. In 2017 we moved to our homestead and BirchCroft farm was born! We now live on 10 acres and have a heavy focus on food sustainability and regenerative agricultural practices. We grow a lot of our own food, and we raise sheep for meat and wool. We have several goats that help keep weeds under control, and we’ve continued to keep rabbits and chickens.

Working the land, putting your hands in the soil, and growing your own food is so nourishing to the soul!  I strongly believe that everyone would benefit from interacting with nature daily, even if that’s just a bird feeder or a walk in the park.

I hope to provide an environment that fosters learning and supports those who are interested in living a more independent lifestyle.
