Meet Jack

Jack is our beautiful, merle, Border Collie. He is almost 5 years old. Jack’s mother belongs to my son, so we’ve had Jack since he was itty bitty!

We kept Jack because our plan was to get sheep. If you have sheep, you need a sheep herder, yes? Well, he was about a year old when we finally got the sheep. We were using electric fencing to keep the sheep in one section of the pasture, and out of nowhere, Jack ran at the sheep and ran directly into that electric fencing! He yelped but was otherwise fine. However, this created a fear in him that the sheep were dangerous and would hurt him, so he hasn’t been very effective as a herder.

Recently, we’ve been able to get Jack to come into the pasture with us, so maybe there’s hope! We may get over this fear yet!

But regardless of his sheep herding ability, we love him so much and he is a permanent fixture here at the farm.
