Homemade Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a very affordable and easy meal to prepare. Check out my YouTube video to see how much money you can save by making it at home!
Oatmeal
1 cup whole milk (Or water if you prefer)
1 cup Instant Rolled Oats (Watch your ingredients! Should be 100% rolled oats.
1 Tbsp butter
! Tbsp maple syrup
Raisins, nuts, fruit, whatever sounds good to you!
Place 1 cup milk and 1 cup oats in a saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally. (*Keep an eye on this if you’re using milk because you don’t want it to burn…stir a bit more frequently)
If you are adding anything like fruit or nuts, go ahead and throw that in as well so it can heat up while the oats cook.
When it begins to boil, stir more frequently and watch texture. After a minute or two, if the consistency is to your liking, you’re done! Turn of the stove, pour it into a bowl, add butter, maple syrup, and enjoy!
*The more time spent boiling, the thicker the oatmeal will become, because the steam is evaporating water.
That’s it! You’ve just made yourself a nutritious breakfast for less than $1.00. Great job!
